Safeguard Your Workplace And Remain OH&S/WH&S Compliant With Testing Services
What is Test & Tag
The primary reason behind doing testing and tagging is to ensure the safety of the people in the workplace coming into contact with the appliance, while also minimising the risk of an electrical hazard. Test and Tag is the name given to the process of checking the safety of portable electrical appliances. It involves two parts:
First visually inspecting the appliance for any damage, followed by electrically testing it with a Portable Appliance Tester.
Once tested, the item is placed with a tag to confirm that it has in fact been tested, along with showing who tested it, the test date and when the next test is due.
The AS/NZS 3760 is the New Zealand Standard that provides guidelines and regulations for the test and tag industry with regards to electrical safety of appliances. It sets our recommendations to issues such as test and tag intervals, defines who can test and tag and general recommendations.
Work Place Safety
Electricity is one of the most important power sources that we all use every day. If it is not properly managed, it can cause serious injury and death.
Employers have a duty of care that staff and visitors are safe in the workplace. OH&S legislation requires employers and controllers of work premises to ensure that any risk of injury from electricity is eliminated or controlled.
Macks Co. Test & Tag take workplace safety very seriously and we have experienced technicians to keep your home or business safe.
From time to time an item will fail its test and there is a responsibility from the technician to report the defective item and label it accordingly. These items are withdrawn from use and depending on the fault, further testing or repairs can be completed to fix the fault.

Professional Services

Electrical Test & Tag
Our extensively trained and fully qualified professionals can visually inspect your electrical appliances for any damage, as well as perform stringent electrical testing using a Portable Appliance Tester. This ensures your equipment remains in safe working order at all times. You’ll have peace of mind knowing your equipment is working well and your staff and customers are safe from electrical dangers.
Portable Appliance Testing
Power tools are often susceptible to being abused on a worksite, these power tools are also under heavy duress so regular inspections are very important. Macks Co. Test and Tag complete visually inspection of the cable and plug end for signs of damage and wear and tear before performing a test using our state of the art PAT (Portable Appliance Tester) to carry out the test and ensure the appliance is safe and compliant.

Visual Testing
A visual inspection of plugs, sockets, the appliance and the entire length of the cord is performed. In doing this our technician is checking for any damage, signs of heating or melting, pitted or corroded pins, non-conforming changes to the cord or end connections and the overall general condition of the item.
(RCD) Safety Switch Testing
An RCD (Residual Current Device) detects and halts the power in an electrical socket preventing dangerous electric currents and fatal electric shocks. Every home and workplace should enlist in regular RCD safety switch testing to ensure they are working correctly.
